Types of CSCS Cards

Labourer card – Green CSCS Card.
Green CSCS Labourer Card is for entry-level workers who work on a construction site. You can apply for this card if you have completed RQF Level 1/SCQF Level 4 Award in Health and Safety in a construction environment or SCQF Level 5 REHIS Elementary Health and Safety Certificate.
The applicants must also pass the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test. The labourer card is valid for five years and you can renew it.
Skilled Worker – Blue CSCS Card.
The Blue Skilled Worker card remains valid for a duration of five years and is available to individuals who have attained a construction-related NVQ/SVQ Level 2, SVQ at SCQF Level 5, or have completed an apprenticeship.
This includes Employer-sponsored apprenticeships, City and Guilds Craft Certificate (CGLI), or a CSCS Approved Apprenticeship Standard. For individuals lacking these specific qualifications but possess substantial job experience and have registered for a relevant qualification pertaining to their occupation, they may apply for an Experienced Worker Card.
Manager card – Black CSCS Card.
The Manager card is accessible to managers and individuals in technical occupations, contingent upon meeting the following criteria:
- Completion of a pertinent Construction Management/Technical related NVQ/SVQ at level 4, 5, 6, or 7.
- Attainment of an SVQ at SCQF Level 10 or 11 in a Construction Management/Technical related qualification.
This card holds a validity period of five years, and all applicants are required to successfully pass the CITB Managers and Professionals Health, Safety, and Environment test.
Skilled Worker – Gold CSCS Card.
The CSCS Gold Skilled Worker card is accessible to individuals meeting the following criteria:
- Attainment of a Construction Related NVQ/SVQ Level 3 or SVQ at SCQF Level 6.
- Completion of an approved apprenticeship, such as with NJCBI, BATJIC, Institute of Apprenticeships, etc.
- Completion of an employer-sponsored apprenticeship that includes the achievement of a City and Guilds of London Institute Advanced Craft Certificate.
This card remains valid for five years. Additionally, all applicants must have passed the CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test within the last two years, at the relevant level for the occupation being applied for.
