About the Qualification
A nationally recognised workplace-based Level 3 NVQ Diploma for experienced painting and decorating operatives working within the construction industry.
Designed for individuals responsible for planning work activities, coordinating resources and maintaining occupational working relationships whilst carrying out decorative finishing operations.
This qualification ensures you are competent in modern painting and decorating practices and able to deliver high quality decorative finishes in line with industry standards.

Mandatory Units
Learner must complete all seven mandatory units 88 credits:
Confirming Work Activities and Resources for an Occupational Work Area, Developing and Maintaining Good Occupational Working Relationships, Confirming the Occupational Method of Work, Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare, Erecting and Dismantling Access/Working Platforms, Preparing Surfaces for Painting and/or Decorating and Applying Surface Coatings by Brush and Roller.
Learner must complete one Optional Group A unit:
- Hanging Standard and Foundation Paper Wallcoverings 26 credits
- Hanging Non-Standard Width Wallcoverings 20 credits
Learner must also complete one Optional Group B unit:
- Applying Coatings by the Airless Spray Method 17 credits
- Producing and Applying Complex Stencils 21 credits
- Hanging Wallcoverings to Complex Surfaces 32 credits
- Hanging Specialised Paper Wallcoverings 30 credits
Minimum optional selection is 37 credits, giving minimum total of 125 credits.
